With web hosting, we have to be on top of our game when it comes to computer problems such as replacing
hard drives, working with networking or just simple things like installing hardware. We also have to know the ins
and outs of security to computers and know what we are doing when it comes to upgrades.
We work in the field, we know the stuff which means we can do it for you as well. We have done everything from
installing a small network for 2 users to things consisting of the more complex issues such as figuring out the Windows
2003 server password for a company who lost it and could not afford to format the server.
Whether it be computer repair, consulting or just asking questions we can provide you with the answers for you and
your business.
We understand that some companies will have different thoughts when it comes to computers. In some instances we deal with
servers that are mission critical and have to be secure as possible as the data on the computer is very confidential. Such
common requests are from people who provide health services which we have worked with. In other cases, people want to be able
to access their office computer from around the world. They want to be able to connect to their office computer in Charlottetown
from Brazil to double check what time their meeting is at or just to become more familiar with a project they forgot their notes on.
A recent survey completed by America Online with the assistance of the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) determined that:
- 20% of their users were infected with a virus? That is one in five. If everyone on Prince Edward Island had a computer that would be 28,000 people!
- 85% of the computers had anti-virus software installed however 67% of those lacked up to date software!
- 70% of the people who participated in the survey falsely believed they were safe and secure from internet virus' and online threats.
- 80% of the computers were infected with spyware of adware programs.
- 90% of the people infected with spyware or adware were unaware of what exactly spyware is, and what it can do (for instance it can track data you type in such as credit card numbers, and then send that information to others)
- 67% of the computers did not have a firewall and 58% could not explain the difference between firewall software and anti-virus software.
